Indiana Jones Steals the Scene

29 05 2008

After nearly 20 years, should an icon remain unchanged or keep up with the times?

That wasn’t just fodder for hypothetical pondering to Karen Asano-Myers, who was charged with whipping Indiana Jones’ hair into shape. When it comes to one of the most beloved characters ever, audiences have strong ideas about what becomes a legend most — if Asano-Myers didn’t choose the right cut, would fans be outraged?

Such fears led to discussions of darkening Ford’s hair to keep him more the way he looked in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” but that was nixed. “Harrison wanted Indy to reflect the passage of time,” says Asano-Myers. But picking the right ‘do meant an archeological dig through pictures, plus some wild conjecture: Should Indy return as a ’50s greaser?

“That style didn’t follow from his ’30s look,” Asano-Myers says. “Instead, I just cut and styled as close to a 1950s haircut as possible to keep the feel of the character from the earlier films. It was a collaborative effort between the two of us,” she says of her work with Ford.

Although she has coiffed many famous heads, it wasn’t until she saw the finished film that Asano-Myers — a lifelong Indy fan — could relax and enjoy her work. “It’s been a great adventure,” she says. “Holy smoke, what a ride!”

I would like to see Indiana Jones myself!

Usher-Multiawarded Artist

28 05 2008

I am always surprised how Usher diverts his music into what’s currently hot. I love his Love In This Club song a lot!!!

His impressive 14-year career has garnered him five Grammys, and he’s sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

But Usher says it is his new role as husband and father that has really made him a man.

“When I became a husband, I became a great man,” Usher told “Good Morning America” this morning.

Usher will be performing Friday on GMA’s Summer Concert Series, but he stopped by Times Square to talk about his new role as family man.

“Everybody knows what I used to be. Now, [I'm] a man of integrity,” he said, “To be a father — daddy — to my family [and] my wife is the most incredible thing ever.”

Usher married celebrity stylist Tameka (Foster) Raymond, 38, last August, and the two have a new 6-month-old son, Usher Raymond V.

Best Candidate?

Clinton Says She Stays in Race Because She’s the Best Candidate

By Dan Hart

May 25 (Bloomberg) — Hillary Clinton, criticized for a reference to the 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, said in a New York Daily News commentary she is still campaigning for the Democratic Party’spresidential nomination because she believes she is the strongest candidate.

“I am running because I believe I’m the strongest candidate to stand toe-to-toe with Sen. McCain,” the New York senator wrote in the op-ed piece. Senator John McCain of Arizona has wrapped up the Republican nomination.

“Delegate math might be complicated, but electoral math is not,” she wrote. The campaign of her rival for the nomination, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, said May 22 that he is only 56 delegates short of the 2,026 needed to secure the nomination. Clinton said she has won in the crucial swing states needed to win the general election, such as Florida, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

You Know I’m Good

25 05 2008

Did you like Amy Winehouse’s Rehab? You might also like her ‘You Know I’m Good’

I like her voice, I think the tone is good and her voice is a little husky giving her the reminiscence of old music.

Belle of the Ball

24 05 2008

If I have to use my extra time and has the capability to out them together I would spend it traveling the world. I know that Cartagena in Colombia is known for drugs and violence, even could be worse than Manila. But there’s always beauty behind those 400-year-old walls that extends around the area.

The Colombian seaport of Cartagena has emerged as the belle of the ball. This tropical city on the Caribbean is pulsating like a salsa party, drawing well-heeled Latin Americans and European socialites to its restored colonial mansions, fancy fusion restaurants and Old World-style plazas. Other rhythms can be heard, too. Guitar players stroll through the cobblestone alleyways. Beauty pageants and dance festivals keep the city swinging after dark. And techno dance clubs keep Cartagena’s revelers up till dawn. But this stunningly beautiful city also has its quiet side. White sand beaches and crystal-clear water are just a short hop away.

If you have 36 hours, find out how you could spend Romancing the Stones and Walking by The 4 century old Walls of Cartagena, Colombia.

Unstoppable Gas Price — Keep going up

24 05 2008

Even with the recent spike in the price of fuel here, the US still hasn’t caught up to much of the world. Drivers in Norway and Great Britain pay more than twice what we do for a gallon of gas.

By Slate.com

The next time you have to take out a loan just to fill up your tank, remember this: Four-dollar-per-gallon gasoline is cheap.

There’s no doubt that high fuel prices are hurting low-income consumers, and high energy costs are placing a tax on the economy that is slowing investment while sending billions of dollars overseas. It’s unsurprising that presidential candidates and members of Congress issue new proposals practically every day for lowering gas prices: Stop filling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve! Suspend the federal gas tax! Open ANWR to oil drilling!

Coping Up

21 05 2008

I just got home from work I can’t believe I only have 30 mins to get ready and head out again. It’s been a stressful day. I am so stressed out I’m gonna puke. My friend at work who is really great at what she does walked out and QUIT. Makes me really sad. And others are so pathetic! They are so lazy and blame others. I am so disappointed with my American co-workers, (well all my co-workers are americans) they are always stalling and push themselves to the edge and have a fit if it’;s your turn to give up and no matter how you do good you’ re still to blame. So sick. I ‘ve been wanting to quit long ago but I always try to hang in there. Still do. They would never change, hopelessly. It is so sad. I hate that they are so LAZY, disappopinting because some of them are managers. Who would try their hardest to avoid doing anything. It’s like you are working for them to get paid.

I am so stressed out right now and trying to get over it before i proceed on another stressful afternoon. You think shower would help? Smoke? Nah… I think I’d just cry. Or pretend that I’m lame as well and just ignore them. So, help me Lord.
